2006 AORN Recommended Practices

As published in the AORN 2006 Recommended Practices “All perioperative departments should develop and implement a well-rehearsed and well-thought-out fire plan”. Every team member should know exactly what his/her responsibilities are. The fire plan should use a team approach that designates  each person's actions. The 2006 AORN Recommended Practices contains a detailed Fire Guidance Statement designed to assist perioperative personnel in developing their own fire plan. The items listed are some of the duties that may be assigned to the registered nurse in charge.
