Key
Concepts
Fire safety during surgical procedures is a
continuing concern to all surgical team members. The devastating
nature of operating room fires, such as documented patient deaths,
demand that surgical team members develop and maintain skills related
to the dangers of operating room fires. Ongoing fire safety training
can help to maintain the skills and knowledge necessary to reduce
the potential for an ignition incident.
